TA-NOOD KALIKASAN* "Nature-Watching... ...& Watching Over" VIDEO & STILLS FESTIVAL
We are calling all photography and video-making enthusiasts who are lovers of Nature! The WED-Philippines Network has started building on this page a gallery of Nature-oriented still photos and will soon enrich it with a virtual mini-theater of green advocacy videos from various artists and advocacy groups all voluntarily shared to touch the hearts and minds of the people towards really appreciating the Beauty of Nature and effectively coming to her defense. Once in a while we will do special features on artist creators of outstanding and high-impact stills and videos. We also foresee getting cash and other forms of rewards from sponsors to give to makers of these videos and stills. *This is inspired by the Ta-Nood Kalikasan video festival for Earth Day 2000 initiated by Ms. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel who is now the people's own outstanding activist within the halls of House of Representatives. Rep. Hontiveros had mounted that successful project in 1999-2000 through her outfit called "Tanghalang Lakbay-Pinoy." Six batches of video-making rookies and staunch environment advocates in various regions were given workshop seminars on video-making and environmental mass communication from late 1999 up to early 2000. By April 2000, the produced videos were exhibited in simultaneous showings in various parts of the country. With Rep. Risa's blessings, Ta-Nood Kalikasan now comes back on a new platform, where videography has taken much more technological strides and where the videocasette players and records have been replaced by DVDs, CDs and the Internet. We started off with the fire flower from Batangas City (below), which has become part of the World Environment Day national site logo for this year 2009. Source of the photo is Batangas City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and we were promised that we will be given very soon the photographer's full identification.
